Net System
Net systems consist of two parts: a braking system and a net raising system. They differ from hook systems in the way they catch the aircraft. Rather than having a pendant that catches the aircraft by its hook, they are equipped with a net that wraps the aircraft’s fuselage and wings, as well as a mechanism that raises the net up to the necessary position. When the shear couplings on the net system break off during the aircraft’s arrestment, the net is separated from the raising system and the braking system is activated. The braking system is the same as the ones in the fixed hook systems. Since the net systems are unidirectional, they are installed at the end of runways.

61QSIIM Net Aircraft Arresting System
Technical Specifications
Raise time: 2-4 seconds
Net height: 3.1 to 4.3 m (adjustable)
Drive system: Hydraulic cylinder
Working pressure: 1700-2500 psi
Working temperature limit: -40cº +70cº
Control system: From the tower and from the site
Break pin value: 3138 kgf
Catch capacity: Aircraft up to 60000 lb
61QSIIM net system is made in USA and is a product of ESCO company. The time it takes for the system to go to ready (raised) position is 2-4 seconds. It also has controls to lower the system and takes 4 seconds to be lowered down. The system is equipped with a hydraulic pump, which provides the required pressure to operate.

In cases where the hydraulic pump does not work, such as emergencies or power outages, the net can be raised/lowered up to 10 times with the existing pressure in the system. T-30, HP-30, I-28 and F-40 type nets can be used with this system. They can perform aircraft arrestments in engagements of up to 190 knots.
