Prior to beginning infrastructure construction for new aircraft arresting systems, a survey of terrain conditions, runway characteristics, tower position, power locations and other important factors is completed in order to prepare a site layout plan. This is done to ensure safe arrestment of aircraft while adhering to international flight and runway safety regulations (FAA, ICAO).
